Lyla Toomney--ever a bit of a mystery, even to her closest friends--is co-commander of the Chavenlink PeaceKeeper base. She started her PeaceKeeper career at the tender age of 16 and fairly flew through the ranks. Now, a sergeant, she commands with an icy voice and a no-nonsense attitude. Strangely cursed with a few bigoted humans in her command, she's had to work hard to maintain respect, since she is both female and a non-human.
