Ramatra Gryphons closely resemble the heraldic gryphons of ancient legend. They have the heads, wings and (on occasion) fore-claws of birds of prey and the bodies of big cats. The average Gryphon has an eagle/lion body-type, but several different sub-species include hawkgryphons, griffalons, etc. Highly intelligent and sometimes 'magicially' gifted, Gryphons are one of the galaxy's most spectacular alien species.
